Matthew 6 - His Will Be Done
Matthew 6 - His Will Be Done
In this episode, I’m delving into Matthew 6, part of the Sermon on the Mount, where Jesus discusses righteousness and how to live a righteous life. He’s packed it with teachings on prayer, giving, fasting, and worry. It all starts with a warning against “performing righteousness “ in front of others. Instead, we should do things because they’re the right things to do, and God will see and reward them. Then, Jesus teaches the Lord’s prayer, emphasizing the importance of sincerity and focus on God.
We also analyze the concept of serving God and money. We can’t serve two masters; if we try to balance between God and money, we’re likely to fail. We should be focused on serving God and living righteously, not accumulating wealth. Jesus reassures us not to be anxious about our daily needs; God knows and understands our needs. He advises us to seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all our needs will be provided.
Moreover, I explore the idea of forgiveness. We ask God to forgive us our debts, to forgive our sins, to forgive us like we forgive other people. We should forgive others for their trespasses, and then our heavenly father will forgive us. If we don’t forgive others, do we want to be forgiven in that same way? We want better forgiveness than we give others. It’s a reminder to let go of anger and bitterness towards others.
In the end, the message is to live a life focused on God, doing things to please him, not to show off to others. I learn that I should pray, fast, and give in secret, trusting God to reward me. I should also be merciful, forgiving, and not be anxious about my daily needs. I remind myself to seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and everything else will follow.
